At The Crown At Bray
At The Crown, we cook the sort of food that makes us close our eyes mid-bite and mutter, “Oh yes.” Proper seasonal fare guaranteed. At the helm is Chef Simon Bonwick serving up classics done our way: generous, gutsy and gloriously full of flavour.
Our cosy pub hums along with an à la carte menu throughout the week — seasonal dishes that change as the mood (and the market) strikes. Sundays, however, are sacred. Our classic roast arrives with all the bits ’n’ bobs: golden potatoes, towering Yorkshires, rich gravy and all the trimmings marching across your plate.
And every now and then, we throw caution (and the rulebook) to the wind with a Choisi menu — five courses straight from Simon’s imagination to your fork. Expect bold flavours, playful touches and perhaps even a wine flight to keep the evening delightfully on course.
Service? Warm, genuine, and never stuffy. From your first smile at the door to your slightly reluctant goodbye, you’re not just visiting — you’re coming home. A “home away from home,” only with better gravy and someone else doing the washing up.
Families, friends, long-lost cousins and well-behaved furry companions (on leads, please — we run a tight but friendly ship) are welcomed with open arms and possibly a raised glass.
Come hungry. Leave happy and plotting your next visit.

Our Choisi menu is a spirited little creature — five thoughtful courses shaped entirely by the seasons and our inspiration. As such, it is always subject to availability; when the produce is exceptional, we cook, and when it isn’t, we patiently wait. You’ll never find it on a Sunday (the roast quite rightly holds court), but from Wednesday through to Saturday, when the mood strikes and the larder is brimming, it may well make an appearance. We follow the ingredients, not the calendar — and that’s precisely the point.
Please Note: This is just a sample menu. We also cannot make any modifications to our Choisi menu should you select it on the night.
Available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm
2 Courses- £20 per person
Our ever-changing prix fixe menu is a bit of a culinary whim—two courses that might mean starter and main, depending entirely on what the seasons have conspired to offer. Rather than lazily borrowing from the à la carte, each dish is dreamt up properly, with a nod to classic pub fare. It changes often enough to keep even the regulars guessing (and mildly suspicious), which is exactly how we like it.
As such, we cannot tell you what will be on the menu each day but feel free to pop in and find out.
